Detectives in Bournemouth are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after an alleged attempted rape in the town – with a man being arrested and charged.
The incident happened at approximately 11.40pm on Monday 16 June at an address in Ophir Gardens.
The victim, a 37-year-old Bournemouth woman, left the address and went onto Holdenhurst Road.
Detective Constable Damian May, of Bournemouth CID, said: “She was found by members of the public in a partly undressed and visibly distressed state.
“She had sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
“Even though a man has been arrested and charged, I am keen to hear from anyone who saw or spoke to the victim after the incident.
“I am particularly keen to speak with a man – aged between 50 and 60, with light grey hair who was carrying a khaki coloured back pack – who was in the area at the time.”
A 40-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested and has been charged with attempted rape and assault. He will appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Tuesday (24 June).
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 16:533. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
