Bournemouth hosts seventh festival of arts by the sea
More than 70 acts and events will be taking place across Bournemouth this autumn as talented artists descend on the seaside town for the spectacular Arts by the Sea Festival.
With the launch weekend of the seventh Arts by the Sea Festival getting closer, preparations are in full swing for the more than 70 acts and events taking place this autumn across Bournemouth’s many and varied venues.
Over the eight-day festival there will be a broad mix of visual and performance art, live music, dance, museum open days, comedy, magic, kids’ raves and entertainment, light installations, film screenings and workshops.
While the core of the Arts by the Sea Festival programme takes place outdoors – particularly during the Opening Weekend of 14 and 15 October in the Lower and Central Gardens, the bandstand , the pier, the square and the seafront – there will be a wealth of talent on show at venues such as Shelley Theatre, Pavilion Dance and other locations like St Peter’s Church and the Old Firestation.
This year’s theme, Plastic Beach and Arts by the Sea 2017, is highlighting the issue of marine pollution. Not only will festival-goers be thoroughly entertained but also informed by the performances, and leave the event inspired by what we can all do to help the environment.
