Bournemouth leisure centres to offer free gym and pool sessions
BH Live Active is offering free sessions on 18 September to celebrate National Fitness Day.
Leisure centres across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will celebrate National Fitness Day on Wednesday 18 September by offering visitors free access to gym and swim sessions.
The participating BH Live Active centres include Queen’s Park, Corfe Mullen, Littledown, Pelhams, and Stokewood.
Visitors will be able to access free sessions by either signing up in advance for a free one-day guest pass, or by quoting ‘National Fitness Day’ at reception desks when booking on the day.
National Fitness Day aims to to raise awareness of the benefits of staying active. Created by UKactive, the UK’s largest leisure trade body, last year’s campaign saw more than 10 million people engage with physical activity.
This year’s theme is “Your Health Is For Life”, a message carried over from last year’s campaign to sustain awareness on the importance of creating healthy, long-term habits for life.
As well as participating in national awareness campaigns such as this, BH Live offers free taster sessions and concessions on activities to eliminate barriers to sport and leisure. For instance, children aged under five can currently enjoy free swimming when accompanied by a full-paying adult at BH Live Active centres.
Rob Cunningham, Director of Leisure and Business Development at BH Live, said: “Let’s get active together on National fitness day – the most active day of the year! We’re delighted to raise awareness of our fantastic facilities and the importance of staying active.
“By offering free gym and swimming, we hope to show that it’s never too late to start creating healthy habits for life. We hope everyone has a fantastic time exploring their local leisure centre and learning more about the benefits of participating in regular physical activity.”
