The inaugural 6th Form open evening for the new Bishop of Winchester Academy in Bournemouth offered an opportunity for parents to view the facilities and discuss courses available for next year’s students. It created a high level of interest with positive feedback.
Following a £14.5 million new build construction project, the facilities include state of the art teaching rooms, fully equipped science labs, IT suites, new sports hall, and excellent 6th Form communal spaces and study areas.
The curriculum is designed to offer a flexible selection of both vocational and academic subjects personalised to suit each student to ensure that they are best equipped for life beyond the academy, whether it be employment or higher education. There is also a strong focus on the development of life skills.
In his address to parents, principal Paul McKeown said, “We promised a successful academy and have now clearly delivered on this. The opening of our new 6th Form in September 2014 is the next phase of our exciting journey and we promise that we will deliver on this too.”
