Brand-new benches in West Moors
West Moors Town Council has invested in a pair of new benches for residents to use as the seasons change.
With the weather warming as we move into spring, residents of West Moors can now use two new benches to enjoy nature.
Nestled in a roundel on the Petwyn, the new benches feature depictions of insects and flowers.
The benches were purchased by West Moors Town Council (WMTC) and funded using the Community Infrastructure Levy, which allows councils to reinvest contributions from local development into projects that benefit the community.
Nadine Hancock, assistant to the clerk of WMTC, said: “We’re absolutely delighted with the new benches, and it’s been lovely to see such a positive response from the community.
“They were designed, made and personally delivered by David Ogilvie Engineering in Kilmarnock, a company that specialises in high-quality street furniture and park equipment, including bespoke and commemorative designs. They’re the same supplier we used for the Remembrance benches already in place on the Petwyn.
“We wanted to replace the old wooden benches on the roundel with something more durable, but also bright and uplifting — somewhere people can comfortably sit, enjoy a bit of lunch, or meet a friend for a chat. It’s important to us that our public spaces feel welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
“We hope residents will enjoy using them for many years to come.”
