Bringing some festive cheer for those affected by domestic abuse
Money raised at the Poole event recently will go towards three important local charities.
A recent Domestic Abuse Awareness Day fundraising event hosted by Safer Poole Partnership in Poole Town Centre proved to be a huge success raising £628.77, which will be split between BCHA Women’s Refuge, Dorset Rape Crisis and The Purple Teardrop campaign.
The free event, which was organised in partnership with Soroptimist International Poole, Borough of Poole, Dorset Police and Stand and Matter, took place in Falkland Square and featured a live DJ provided for free by Southern Entertainment Services and a performance by Sounds of Soul choir. There were children’s activities and stalls offering a variety of food and drink.
Paul Tucker, campaigns and communications manager at BCHA, said, “We are extremely grateful to Safer Poole Partnership for putting on this event every year and to the members of the public who so generously donated. The response was overwhelming and will be hugely appreciated by the children in our Women’s Refuge in Poole, not to mention by the other charities involved.”
Rhianon Greenslade from Safer Poole Partnership, added, “We had such a wonderful reception from the shoppers in Poole. We are so grateful for everyone’s donations, and for everyone who visited the shop, which in turn raised awareness of domestic abuse and helped us reach out to hundreds of people. A massive thank you goes to the local businesses and organisations who gave their time and resources for free to make this event a huge success.”
