Broadstone Christmas Parade set to return
A popular community Christmas event is back after being cancelled at the late notice in 2024.
Last year was due to be the 53rd Broadstone Christmas Parade, but the annual procession didn’t go ahead due to extremely stormy weather.
Fortunately, the forecast for Saturday 6 December is cloudy skies and a mild 12 degrees Celsius.
In previous years, the parade has featured all manner of floats, marching bands, colourful costumes and community groups. Classic cars, vintage vehicles and antique steam engines are likely to feature once again.
This year’s parade is due to begin at 1.30pm and end around 3pm.
There will be several road closures to accommodate the safety of the parade. The roads closed from 12.30pm are: Story Lane, Kirkway, Ridgeway, Broadway, Dunyeats Road, Tudor Road (North & South), Macauley Road, and Broadstone High Street.
The car park behind the Wetherspoon and M&S will be closed from 12noon for entering and 12.30pm for exiting.
As well as the parade, there is a Christmas Window Trail, where QR codes will be displayed in shop windows along Broadstone High Street. When the code is scanned with a mobile phone, a Christmas character will appear unique to each store. Children who collect all 14 characters can collect a prize from Broadstone Library.
