Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following a burglary at a pensioner’s address in Award Road, Stapehill.
Detective Sergeant Mark Fossey, of Dorset Police’s Priority Crime Team, said, “I believe that two men are responsible for this crime.
“They forced entry through a window and stole a quantity of cash and jewellery.
“This was a very distressing incident for the elderly woman who was not in the property at the time.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or recalls any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact Dorset Police.
“This crime might be linked to a burglary in Hinton Martell earlier this month, in which two men broke into premises in the village on 2 May. The victim, a woman in her 80s, was assaulted when she called for help – she sustained minor facial injuries. Her handbag, some personal items and jewellery were stolen.
“Anyone with any information about those responsible should report this to us as soon as possible.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 07:479. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
