A new play area has been opened at Bytheway Field, off Leigh Road in Colehill.
The informal facility includes pieces of equipment made from natural timber, which provide a combination of physical activity, aimed at improving balance, strength and coordination, and opportunities for learning. Some of the pieces are also suitable for children with disabilities.
Equipment includes a rope walk, balance beams, a tunnel, stepping posts and a jungle bridge.
The play area has been funded from the developer contributions in respect of the housing development on the former Flight Refuelling site in Wimborne.
Carina Gallacher, Senior Technical Officer at the Christchurch and East Dorset Partnership, said: “This is the first of two proposed play areas on this site. It is a more informal area designed to fit in with the natural environment of the Field. The second more formal play area is likely to be built next year.
“We hope that children from all over the area will have a fun and challenging time using the equipment.”
