Mums and children from Little Owls Nursery & Pre School in Witchampton set out their stall at the Crichel Farm Sale on 7 March, raising a mighty £1,021 in aid of the local pre-school.
The sale of the Crichel Estate has meant major changes for the local community. The most significant being the scaling down of livestock operations on the estate which has led to many families leaving the area in search of jobs elsewhere.
In the face of losing so many pupils this year, parents at the pre-school have rallied round to raise the profile of Little Owls as well as fundraise.
There was a very impressive turn out for the sale. Amanda Parnell, Chair of the Pre -School Committee was blown away by customers’ generosity; “Almost everyone here is from a rural area and has children and/or grandchildren so they understand how important these services are to parents and children alike.”
With news that some of the vacated family homes are now being successfully rented out, Amanda is looking forward to an influx of new members and added, “We hope to get some new children attending the pre-school this year. It’s an incredible place. Our own kids are so happy there.
“Everyone at Little Owls wishes to thank Symonds & Sampson for kindly donating the pitch for the day and Sarah and Neil Edwards for making it all possible.”
