Knocked to the ground by a moped while crossing the road outside The Lions Head pub in Eastcliff, a 29-year-old woman had her mobile phone stolen as she lay injured.
Suffering with a fractured collarbone and leg with her possessions beside her, two callous thieves – a man and a woman – stole the phone and ran off in the direction of Springbourne roundabout. The incident happened at around 1pm on Tuesday, 17 September along Holdenhurst Road.
The moped rider was unhurt.
Police Constable Toni Broadbent, of Bournemouth police, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this theft or has information about the couple who stole the victims’ mobile phone to call Dorset Police.
“This callous act has been carried out while she lay helplessly in the road following a road traffic collision, and we are extremely keen to trace the offenders.
“The mobile phone taken is a large Samsung model, and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have been offered this type of phone for sale in strange circumstances or for an unusually low price.”
The first offender is described as a white man aged in his forties, with fair cropped hair. He was wearing a light green, collared jacket which was zipped up to the top.
The second person is described as a white woman aged in her fifties wearing a white cardigan with stars or snowflakes printed on it.
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 17:181. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
