Canford School supports Wimborne in Bloom
Wimborne’s floral displays are now looking good thanks to a donation of £2,000 from the Friends of Canford School.
The floral displays in Wimborne’s town square this year have been funded by a generous donation from the Friends of Canford School.
A cheque marking the £2000 which has been donated was presented to Anthony Oliver, press officer for Wimborne in Bloom.
Tiffany Fleming, chairman of the Friends said: “Friends of Canford School chose to support Wimborne in Bloom after hearing that they were unable to run their normal fundraising events due to COVID restrictions. Without a source of income the town’s picture postcard planting was in some doubt. Throughout lockdown we had all become more aware of the town’s unsung heroes. Those who champion to keep it free of waste, those who support neighbours who need it most, and those who strive to make Wimborne a pretty place to live, full of colour. We have come to realise how important our surroundings are to our health and wellbeing, The work of the Wimborne in Bloom team benefit so many, those who live and work in our lovely town and those who love to visit. Canford School and the Friends of Canford committee were pleased to be able to show their appreciation and to thank the Wimborne in Bloom team for all their hard work.”
Anthony Oliver said how grateful In Bloom was for the contribution which enabled the square to be planted, giving some much needed colour to brighten up the centre of the town.
