Former Cherries boss Harry Redknapp opened a summer fair at Canford School in May. It raised £3,647.77 for the Diverse Abilities’ Lilypad Appeal, which is raising funds to renovate its respite home for children with complex disabilities, and their families.
Canford School pupil Imogen Still came up with the idea to hold a fair with live music, crafts, face painting, BBQ and games, after attending another Diverse Abilities event. Many pupils and staff from the school supported the fair with their families, and a number of children and adults the Dorset disability charity supports were also present.
Harry announced to the crowds: “This is a fantastic cause and I am delighted to be involved with the Lilypad Appeal. Please give generously. Having met the people today it is certainly something I want to get very much involved with in the future. Let’s all dig deep and raise as much as we can.”
Vikki Slade, capital appeals manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “We are really grateful to Canford School for hosting a fantastic summer fair in aid of the Lilypad Appeal. A big thank you also goes to Harry Redknapp for coming along and supporting our appeal, and to Imogen Still and her family. The event will make a huge difference to many families and children with disabilities in Dorset.
“If you’d like to be involved with Diverse Abilities and the Lilypad Appeal, please do get in touch and be part of this amazing project, providing more support to children and their families in Dorset.”
