Verwood’s Crane Valley Golf Club has announced the appointment of Stewart Rennie as captain of the club’s thriving, 220-strong seniors’ section. Former Poulner Primary head teacher Roger Bonfield takes the vice captain’s chair in preparation for assuming the captaincy next year.
Speaking of his appointment, Stewart said: “I am looking forward to widening the appeal of golf and to welcoming new members, not least to join the nearly 30 that have already switched from the Canford Magna club that unfortunately closes at the end of March. I also aim that ‘A smile for a child’, my nominated charity, benefits to the tune of a least the £700 the outgoing captain was able to donate to Julia’s House for his year.”
