Now’s your chance to have a say on the subject of public parking in the centres of Wimborne, Ferndown, Verwood and West Moors.
Forming part of a district-wide parking study, data from surveys and face-to-face interviews will be analysed by consultants. As well as looking at the current arrangements, the study will also look at changes that may be needed to satisfy future parking requirements over the next 15 years.
In particular it will consider how well the existing car parks that the council manages in the four centres serve local residents, businesses and visitors at different times of the day and evening. In addition it will consider whether any changes should be made in respect of charges, permits, allocation of spaces for disabled motorists and short or long term parking. On-street parking in part of Wimborne is included in the study.
Cllr Ian Monks, Leader of East Dorset District Council, said: “There is an important balance to strike between supporting the economic well-being of residents and businesses in the centres and the provision and cost of providing car parks.
“Our consultants will be collecting and analysing a range of information and data over the coming months including data from car park occupancy surveys and face-to-face interviews.
“It is of course vitally important to get the views of residents and businesses in the district, as well as visitors, so we hope that as many people as possible will take part in the study and respond to a questionnaire.”
