Care home provider’s review rating heightened by resident feedback
South coast care home provider Colten Care has increased its group score on the independent review site Carehome.co.uk to 9.9 out of ten.
The rating reflects feedback posted by residents and relatives in 1,219 online reviews across the family-owned company’s 21 care homes.
Four have gained the maximum 10 out of 10 score: Bourne View in Poole, Belmore Lodge in Lymington, Whitecliffe House in Blandford and Kingfishers in New Milton.
Bourne View has scored 10 out of 10 for all possible criteria, an outcome reached by only a tiny handful of homes nationally.
Colten Care’s increased group score follows two successive years of being a ‘Top 20 Care Home Group’ on the site.
It also comes just weeks after the provider celebrated its sixth Outstanding rating from care sector regulator the Care Quality Commission.
This success – for Fernhill, the Ferndown dementia care home, itself rated at 9.9 on Carehome.co.uk – followed CQC Outstandings for Kingfishers, Amberwood House, Linden House, Woodpeckers and Canford Chase.
Fernhill relative Ruth Sharp, whose mother Mary has been living in the home for more than a year, said, “I cannot praise the team highly enough. They all deserve a pat on the back for going above and beyond. I know they are doing as much as they can for my mum and I know she is cared for and safe.”
Colten Care chief executive Mark Aitchison said, “Based on what residents, relatives, Carehome.co.uk and CQC all say about us, we are now consistently being seen as one of the top care home groups in the UK. I would go so far as to say ‘the top’. Such third party advocacy is a huge vote of confidence in the way we plan and deliver care. It is only made possible because of the commitment and hard work our team put in day in, day out. We are one team focused on one goal: our residents and the care they receive.”
Carehome.co.uk is a public website that features independent reviews by residents and families about services in more than 18,000 care homes across the country.
Ratings reflect feedback on the overall standard of care and support. Quality factors include staff, management, rooms, facilities, food and drink, cleanliness, dignity in care, activities, safety, security and value for money.
