Sporty staff and residents at an East Dorset care home raised hundreds of pounds by stepping out for charity.
Aurelijus Grisius, a chef at Colten Care’s Fernhill home in Longham, ran the Bournemouth Marathon, clocking up a time of 4 hours, 43 minutes.
The 36-year-old had been training for four months for his first marathon.
Meanwhile 15 residents and three staff took part in a memory walk, covering a total distance of 10 kilometres and raising more than £200 for The Alzheimer’s Society.
New Home Manager Gina Smith and activity organisers Karen Grant-A’Court and Ann-Marie Knight led the walk between the Ringwood Road home and nearby Haskins garden centre.
Karen said: “It was a great success and much enjoyed by everyone who took part.
“We raised more than £200 on the day from collections to our bucket but the final total is expected to top £300.
“Special thanks must go to Matthew Hill, Manager of Haskins, who kindly gave us permission to use their car park.
“Since 2012 we’ve raised more than £1,620 for The Alzheimer’s Society which is a great achievement. The money raised from our memory walk is in addition to this.”
