Three men went into Long Johns in Leigh Road, Wimborne and scammed cash out of the fish and chip shop. One man asked for change for various denominations several times in a row. He confused the member of staff into handing over change that was of a greater value than the amount he presented.
The incident happened at 8.10pm on Tuesday, 9 September and Police Constable Ian Curtis, of Wimborne police, said: “I am now able to release a CCTV image of a man I wish to speak with as I believe he can help me with my investigation.“I would urge the man pictured – and anyone who recognises him – to contact me, in confidence, as soon as possible.
I would also like to advise all shops and businesses in the area to be vigilant of change scams and to be wary when approached and asked to change any amount of money.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 9:447. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
