CCTV appeal following use of counterfeit notes
Officers investigating attempts to use counterfeit ban notes in Weymouth and Wimborne are releasing images of a man they would like to speak to.
At around 1.40pm on 22 January 2018, Dorset Police received a report of two men using counterfeit notes at the Co-op store in Curtis Fields in Weymouth. The men were captured entering the store on CCTV.
At 8pm on 1 August 2018, a man entered the petrol station at the Co-op store in Wimborne Road in Wimborne and paid for items using a £20 note, which was also found to be counterfeit.
Having viewed the CCTV, officers believe he is one of the men from the Weymouth incident.
PC Simon Shaw of Dorset Police said, “We are carrying out enquiries to identify this man and I am releasing these CCTV images in the hope that someone recognises him.
“I would urge anyone with information to please contact me.”
