Celebrating British Pie Week at Parley Place in Dorset
British Pie Week gave staff and residents a brilliant excuse to sample lots of delicious fare at Parley Place care home in Dorset.
The care home in West Parley saw staff and residents experiment with many different types of pie fillings and flavour combinations. They ranged from more traditional meat and vegetable fillings, to vegetarian and vegan offerings, hot and spicy fillings, and sweet pies and pastries. The week was a veritable pie-filled feast.
General manager, Tracey, said: “It wasn’t just the residents that were excited when we found out there was a British Pie Week, the eyes of the staff lit up too. Who doesn’t love a pie? Especially at this time of year, they really are the ultimate comfort food. We have all had a great time trying out new recipes and different flavours and ingredients, we’ll be applying for Bake Off next!”
Iris, a resident said: “We had a lovely time trying the different pies this week but the best part was when we made our own, it’s nice to be able to get involved with cooking and talk about the dishes we used to make for our families.”
Parley Place is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Parley Place provides residential, respite care and dementia care in our memory lane.
