Prior to the raising of the Commonwealth Flag in Verwood on 14 March, the town mayor, Cllr Mrs Sandra Grove read a letter from Kamalesh Sharma, Commonwealth Secretary General explaining to those attending that the theme is ‘An Inclusive Commonwealth’. She then read out the Commonwealth Affirmation.
All five schools in the parish were at the ceremony: Emmanuel CE (VA) Middle School, Hillside County First School, Three Legged Cross First School, Trinity CE (VA) First School and Verwood CE First School. The flag was raised by the mayor at 10am, along with other flags around the country.
