New Board member Jacqueline Swift outside Lewis-Manning Hospice
Lewis-Manning Hospice in Poole has announced the appointment to its Board of Jacqueline Swift, who is currently both Chair of Health Education Wessex and a Deputy Lieutenant for Dorset.
The appointment highlights the hospice’s intent to continue strengthening its collaborative work within the healthcare sector and Jacqueline Swift has considerable experience of working in the NHS. Prior to her Health Education Wessex appointment, Mrs Swift was appointed Chair of NHS Dorset in April 2009 and NHS Bournemouth and Poole in September 2011. She was also previously a non-executive Director at Dorset Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust until her appointment to NHS Dorset.
Jacqueline started her career in the private sector where she worked for over 20 years for blue chip companies such as Boots and Whitbread. She then moved to business consultancy specialising in the automotive industry. During that time Jacqueline held a number of non-executive posts in the NHS and social housing sector.
Jacqueline Swift said, “I am delighted to have taken on this role and I hope that I can use my experience and knowledge to benefit Lewis Manning Hospice. I have already met some wonderful staff and volunteers who make an important difference to people’s lives and I know the hospice will move forward to expand and develop the care it can offer to local people.”
Elizabeth Purcell, CEO at Lewis-Manning Hospice, said, “We are delighted to welcome Jacqueline to the Board and we are already benefiting from her insight and experience.”
The charity, which currently supports over 650 local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, received a “glowing” report from its last unannounced Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection and is currently phasing the opening of its in-patient bedrooms – as funds allow – and has been offering overnight respite stays for its current patients.
