Peter Matthews with Jim collects sponsorship donations from the Stocks Farm Equestrian Centre team
The management at Bournemouth’s Castlepoint Shopping Park have set themselves challenges in a bid to boost funds for Autism Wessex.
General Manager Peter Matthews, 65, will tackle a gruelling 30 mile route starting at Castlepoint. He’ll take to the road on 31 July with a 10 mile cycle ride on an old style bike ending at Stocks Farm Equestrian Centre. There he will mount his trusty steed Jim and complete a series of jumps before riding 10 miles. He will finish off with a 10 mile walk back to Castlepoint.
The funds raised will help Autism Wessex to fund essential resources at Portfield School, located just down the road from Stocks Farm near Bournemouth Airport.
“I hope to complete the 30 miles as quick as possible but fortunately I’m not racing against the clock,” said Peter. “I’m hoping for reasonable weather as their will be no place to hide! My target is to raise £2,500 towards our management team’s target of £10,000.”

The funds raised are going to contribute to an exciting new interactive room at Portfield School. The new teaching room will provide huge benefits to our pupils, offering interactive software which will allow pupils to engage as they wish, work to their strengths and in their preferred way of thinking. It will be a perfect resource for the pupils, a resource we could not invest in without the wonderful support of people like Peter.”
