Children with speech difficulties to be helped in Poole
Canford Heath Infant and Junior School will provide new bases for pupils with language and communication needs.

Pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) are to be helped at two new bases in the Poole area.
BCP Council is funding classrooms at Canford Heath Infant and Junior School. Both are part of The Educational Alliance of Canford Heath (TEACH Poole).
A total of 35 spaces are now available for children aged between four and 11.
The children with SLCN will also have opportunities to interact with children in mainstream education.
At the formal opening of the classrooms, Cllr Richard Burton, BCP Council portfolio holder for children and young people, said: “Every child deserves the best chances to learn in life.
“The base means that more children with SLCN can be educated in their communities with their friends, reducing the disruption to their lives.”
Kate Carter, chief executive officer at TEACH Poole said: “This is more than just another opening of some bricks and mortar. Speech, language and communication are the bedrock of learning, social interaction and emotional well-being.
“When children struggle to communicate, it affects every aspect of their lives.”
