Christchurch Christmas Festival has thanked the sponsors who have come forward to support the event and is now on the lookout for volunteers who can help on the day of the Festival on Saturday 29 November.
Stewarts Garden Centres have agreed to sponsor the reindeer that will transport Father Christmas through the town centre from Peeks Partystore to the Priory, leaving Peeks at 4.15pm. The lights switch-on is at 6pm.
Christchurch Borough Council are giving transitional sponsorship to the committee of volunteers who are organising this year’s festivities while Christchurch Round Table are sponsoring the music and entertainment.
There are a number of other sponsors involved as well. Kim Skinner, chairman of the Christmas Festival Committee, said: “We are really grateful to all the sponsors who have given their support to this year’s Festival. Without their assistance we wouldn’t have been able to arrange this great community event which has proved so popular in the past.
“But we now need some people to come forward to don a high-viz jacket and volunteer to help us on the day. There are a number of jobs which need to be covered, everything from setting up and taking down of market stalls, to helping with crowd control during the reindeer procession and lights switch-on. People don’t need to commit to a lot of time but we’d be grateful if people could give a couple of hours at some point during the day.”
