Christchurch Living Advent Calendar into last 10 days
The Christchurch Living Advent Calendar, which has been running for two weeks, is into the home stretch.
The Christchurch Living Advent Calendar, which has held events daily at 6.15pm around the town, has seen fine performances from singers, musicians and others, each performing to audiences of at least 100 people – and over 400 on one occasion.
The event has been supported by more than 120 local businesses and organisations and, so far, there have been generous donations to the charity fund-raising. Already, £12,000 has been raised through sponsorship, with on-the-day donations added on top.
The event will continue each evening with a surprise performance at 6.15pm, until 23 December, and culminate with a final performance in Saxon Square on 24 December at 2pm.
Organiser organiser Rtn. Jan Banks said: “CLAC continues to go from strength to strength with an excellent group of followers each evening come rain or shine. To date, for Covid and other reasons, we have had two performer drop-outs and a charity drop-out, but our committed organising team has immediately found replacements to ensure seamless continuity. We have adjusted our website and social media pages to keep the public up to date. The response has really surpassed our expectations – well done, Christchurch. Many thanks to all our performers, sponsors, helpers and supporters – and do join us for the remaining events.”
For the final week, performances will be held as follows, all at 6.15pm, except Christmas Eve, which is at 2pm:
- Friday 17 December – The Regent Centre, in support of The Primrose Charitable Trust
- Saturday 18 December – Saxon Square, in support of Christchurch Community Partnership and Christchurch Angels
- Sunday 19 December – the Bandstand on the Quomps, in support of the local Marie Curie charity
- Monday 20 December – The Boat House, in support of National Coastguard Institution’s base at Hengistbury Head
- Tuesday 21 December – the Conservative Club, Bargates, in support of the Friends of the Red House Museum
- Wednesday 22 December – Saxon Square, in support of Rotary charities
- Thursday 23 December – the Baptist Church, Bargates, in support of the Bournemouth Blind Society
- Friday 24 December – Saxon Square, in support of Ashleys Birthday Bank
