Christchurch Mayor and young people spread the season of goodwill
Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Sea Scouts from local groups in Christchurch helped the town's mayor, Cllr Nick Geary, to distribute his goodwill parcels within the borough to nominated 38 recipients.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and organisations who donated funds to the mayor’s goodwill fund; groceries, poinsettia plants and chocolates were handed out to 38 people in Christchurch by the mayor, Scouts, Guides, Brownies and Sea Scouts on Sunday 10 December.
The mayor said, “I am proud that, through the mayor’s goodwill fund, we are able to offer a small gesture to those who are facing difficulties at this time of year.
“I would like to thank all the young people who have given up their time to help distribute the parcels. At this time of year it’s especially important that we think of those in our community who are less fortunate than ourselves, so seeing youngsters from Christchurch volunteering in this way is wonderful.”
