Christchurch Running Festival proves popular again
More than 150 participants put on their running shoes to take part in the popular Christchurch Running Festival on 15 October.
The Christchurch Running Festival, organised by Two Riversmeet Leisure Complex, took place on Sunday 15 October and proved to be another great success.
The new and improved 10K route, which directed runners over a more scenic path, was enjoyed by more than 150 participants, whilst the children’s 1K Fun-Run saw nearly 50 children between the ages of 3 and 14 taking part.
Cllr Nick Geary, Mayor of Christchurch, was thrilled to officially start both races at Stanpit Marsh Recreation Ground. He said, “There was a great atmosphere at the event this year. I was especially pleased to see so many young people take part in the fun run and it’s great that Two Riversmeet continue to encourage young people to get fit and active.
“I would like to thank all the volunteers that helped the event run so smoothly – without the support of the local community we couldn’t have put on such a great event.
“Well done to everyone who took part, including my wife Gillian, and huge congratulations to all the winners.”
The winner of the men’s 10k race was Billy McGreavy (37:18), and the women’s 10k race was Alex Sims (41:29).
