For the first time, visitors to Kingston Lacy will be able to enjoy an illuminated Christmas trail as part of a month-long celebration of the season’s traditions. With extended opening hours seven days a week, the team at Kingston Lacy is continuing the spirit of the Bankes family by inviting visitors to explore and create new traditions and memories with friends, family and loved ones.
On offer during the day will be a taste of yesteryear with traditional food and drink, craft activities for young and old, the opportunity to help make the longest ‘Christmas Wish’ paper chain in Dorset, and Father Christmas will be in his shepherd’s hut on the first three weekends in December with a present for all the children.
At dusk the garden will be transformed with an illuminated Christmas walk with highlights including a twelve days of Christmas trail, illuminated obelisks and cedars planted by royals.
“Christmas is a magical time of year and in places like Kingston Lacy you can feel the traditions of Christmas past,” said Katherine Bundy, assistant visitor services manager at Kingston Lacy. “This year we are bringing to life an old style Christmas and inviting visitors to help create some new traditions which we hope will continue for many years to come.”
Kingston Lacy will be celebrating Christmas daily from 28 November to 21 December 10.30am – 6pm (7pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays), weather permitting. Normal admission applies, free entry to National Trust members. Workshops available. The house itself is closed this year owing to essential conversation work.
