Christmas tree collection raises £18,000 for local hospice charity
More than £18,000 was raised in support of a vital local hospice charity by a Christmas tree collection service that recycled 1000 trees.
The annual Lewis-Manning Hospice Care Christmas Tree collection and recycling service was a huge collaboration of the local community and businesses.
A staggering £18,000 has been raised from the generous donations of local people who registered for their Christmas tree to be collected and recycled by the charity. This resulted in 6.5 tons of trees chipped by local businesses including Eco Sustainable Solutions and Upton Specialised Tree Services. Other local companies: JSR Tree Care Garden Maintenance and James Dean Garden Maintenance volunteered their time to support at the charity’s chipping hub held at Tower Park Leisure Complex. The chippings and mulch will be used in various community projects across the local area such as public parks and gardens, playgrounds and attractions.
Fundraising manager Vicki Gray said: “We are thrilled to have completed another successful year of tree collections and delighted to be able to continue this fantastic eco-friendly service to our local community. Our fantastic volunteers, without whom the campaign simply wouldn’t happen, collected over 1,000 trees across the BH1-BH23 area and thanks to the generosity of our loyal supporters, we have raised an incredible £18,000 for our charity. This phenomenal amount will ensure that our dedicated clinical team can continue to provide the extraordinary and vital care and support to our patients, as we move forward in to 2024, across East Dorset, Purbeck and West Hampshire.
“A special thanks to campaign sponsor, Katie Fox Estate Agents and campaign supporter, Care South and grateful thanks to all the local businesses and willing volunteers who got involved this year, from donating vans and people power, to providing space to chip trees. Our additional roll call of thanks goes to:
