Citizens Advice increases Wimborne sessions
The office in Hanham Road will soon be able to offer three sessions a week, instead of two, because of rising demand.
Such is the demand for the services of the Wimborne Minster office of Citizens Advice that an additional drop-in session has been added to its calendar.
With the cost-of-living increase, more people are coming for help about a number of different issues, putting additional demand on services. Citizens Advice in East Dorset & Purbeck helped over 5,600 residents in the last financial year (2024/25) with over 28,500 issues.
Ros Dignan, head of Advice Services, said: “Where previously someone may come to us about help with benefits, we are now seeing that they may need help with debt and energy advice. As a result, and to cope with demand, we are increasing our Wimborne advice session from two to three sessions a week.”
Starting Friday 14 November, residents will be able to call by on a Friday morning, 10am to 12noon, at the office in Hanham Road. No appointment is needed.
Dignan added: “Our new Friday drop-in session will be a general advice service, but we also have specialist advisers who may be able to assist including energy and debt specialists.”
Residents will be able to visit Citizens Advice at the Wimborne Minster office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10am to 12noon. No appointment is necessary. For details of all of outreach and drop-in locations, visit www.edpcitizensadvice.org.uk/get-advice/in-person.
