A dark red 1968 Volkswagen Karman Ghia coupé belonging to a 67-year-old local man has been stolen from a garage on Clifford Road, Moordown.
The incident is believed to have taken place some time between Monday 11 November and Tuesday 12 November 2013. The offenders forced entry to the garage in order to steal the vehicle.
Police Constable Oliver Smith, of Bournemouth police, said: “Following extensive enquiries, I am now able to release a historic picture of the stolen car.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this theft take place, or has information about those involved to call Dorset Police immediately.
“The vehicle is of great sentimental value to the owner, who was given it by a relative back in 1970. They have since passed away.
“The car itself has perished tyres and an engine that has seized thus rendering it un-driveable, so it’s likely those responsible have used a truck or lorry to take the vehicle away.
“I urge anyone who may have seen any suspicious transporter like vehicle in the area recently to contact police.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 12:357. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
