Clothes swap returns to Southbourne
Pop along to Southbourne on Wednesday 23 November for not only a fun evening but a chance to get a new outfit for Christmas.
If you’ve got some nice clothes in your wardrobe that you are unlikely ever to wear again you may want to pop along to Southbourne on Wednesday 23 November from 4pm onwards.
Swish It! is back by popular demand for a special Christmas edition of the sustainable clothes swapping event. Launched and hosted by Southbourne based businesses, ethical PR agency, Warrior Agency, and sustainable stylist, Buddy & Noo, Swishmas is coming to The Larder House in Southbourne.
Swishing is an easy, sustainable, and affordable way to find clothes that are new to you whilst enjoying an afternoon of Christmas magic.
Attendees are invited to bring along quality pre-loved clothes and take home a whole new wardrobe ready for the New Year, reducing waste and protecting the planet at the same time. Tickets are just £5 per person with any profits and unswapped clothing going to local organisation, Wardrobe Foundation who put together clothing gift bags for women in need of clothing support.
Lizzie McManus, founder of Warrior, the said: “We’ve been cherry-picking the best Christmas outfits, dresses, and sparkly numbers from our last few swishes for this very special Swish It! So, bring along any festive wear you’d like to pass on to a new home, and come and pick up some fabulous new-to-you gems.”
As well as bubbles on arrival and party clothes aplenty, the team have also arranged some extra special treats including talks from sustainable stylist and Swish’s co-founder, Alice Nichol, and Wardrobe Foundation’s Eloise.
Alice said: “Each Swish It! event is more fun than the last and we can’t wait to get in the festive spirit for this one. Yes, we save a lot of clothes from landfill and raise much-needed funds for Wardrobe Foundation, but we have an absolute blast while doing it.”
Since the launch in January 2021, Swish It! events have gained popularity and expanded throughout the BCP Council area and into Hampshire with Swishes hosted in Poole’s Nusara, Southampton’s Guildhall, Andover’s Gin Palace, and of course the seasonal events at Southbourne’s Larder House.
Profits from ticket sales and any unswapped clothes left at the end of the evening are donated to Wardrobe Foundation. The Dorset based organisation uses donated clothing to put together clothing gift bags for women in need of clothing support and works closely with established local organisations to deliver them. Since January, the Swish It! team has raised £779 for Wardrobe Foundation and saved tonnes of clothes from landfill.
Swish It! returns on Wednesday 23 November at The Larder House in Bournemouth. Clothes drop off is from 2pm, and the doors are open from 4pm onwards. Guests can purchase tickets on the door or in advance at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/its-beginning-to-look-a-lot-like-swishmas-tickets-440278624217.
