Earlier in 2015, Coda Music Trust was awarded a grant by ‘Music For All’ to purchase essential equipment for The Coda Fiddle Orchestra.
The Coda Fiddle Orchestra (CFO) is a participatory community music project based in Boscombe that works with children, young people and their families from across Bournemouth.
The Orchestra is open to children aged four and upwards and is led by Jack Maguire, a former co-leader of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Musician in Residence at The Arts by The Sea Festival in Bournemouth.
With the grant, Coda has been able to purchase 40 high quality, portable Hercules stands to support performances by the Coda Fiddle Orchestra.
The stands have already been used and appreciated at several performances, including the CFO Christmas concert at St Clement’s Church Hall in Boscombe.
Music For All is the charity of the UK musical instrument industry. The charity recognises how playing a musical instrument can provide a real sense of personal achievement and can allow parents to experience a unique feeling of pride at hearing and seeing their children perform.
“Like Coda, MfA are passionate about helping people to find ways to understand and experience the enjoyment and benefits of playing music”, said Phil Hallett, CEO of Coda.
“We are really appreciative that they recognised the value of the Coda Fiddle Orchestra, which benefits talented children who may not otherwise have experienced the opportunity to learn an instrument and perform. The grant has allowed us to purchase vital equipment for the project and we are extremely grateful.”
Coda uses music as a tool for personal and social change, believing in the power of music to transform lives. Unique to the area, it is the only music centre of its kind providing a range of music opportunities to people of all ages and abilities, with facilities dedicated to teaching, music groups, choirs, workshops, training, music therapy and music for health and wellbeing.
