New Milton’s Coda Music Trust will see their own 30 strong Ukulele Band start their fundraising Ukethon for 24 hours from 3pm on 20 June so that an old piggery on their premises can be converted into music studios.
To ensure there is constant Ukulele playing, bands from across the south will be joining the Coda Uke Band at regular intervals. Some original music has been scored for the fun event which hopes to raise over £2000 for the conversion of the piggery. Visitors will be able to attend between 7pm and 10pm on Friday 20 and between midday and 4pm on Saturday 21 June.
Phil Hallett, Chief executive of the Coda Music Trust says that everyone is welcome to watch how the bands cope with sore fingers from continuous playing; “We hope that we receive strong support from people in the area so that we can expand our facilities which offer unique music tuition and creative workshops for the wellbeing and health of people of all ages and abilities.”
The Coda Music Trust was founded in 1994 and provides music therapy to over 100 people each week both at its home on the Hampshire/Dorset border and in the local community covering disabilities, ill health, old age and youth organisations.
