Police in Wimborne are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward following shoplifting from a store in Colehill. They have also released images of a man they would like to speak with.
The theft happened at around 2.40pm on Tuesday 19 August 2014 at the Co-operative store on Smugglers Lane.
A man entered the shop in possession of a canvas bag and selected steaks. He then concealed them in the bag and left the store making no attempt to pay.
Minutes later a passer-by recovered the bag and returned it to the Co-op. It is not known how the passer-by recovered the bag.
East Dorset Neighbourhood Inspector Simon Perry said: “I am now able to release a CCTV image of a man I would like to speak with.
“I would urge the man pictured and anyone who recognises him to contact police.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 19:212. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
