Community banker coming to Ferndown
Lloyds customers living in Ferndown can get support fortnightly by visiting their local library.
Lloyds Bank closed its branch in Ferndown in November, leaving the town without a high street bank.
However, Lloyds is launching a new community banker service at Ferndown Library, offering banking support to the community, starting from Thursday 27 November.
The community banker will be available fortnightly on a Thursday from 10am to 3pm, offering face-to-face banking support to Lloyds personal and business customers.
Cash services will not be provided, but the banker can help with:
- Account balance enquiries
- Direct debit and standing order support
- Bill payment enquiries
- Guidance on alternative banking channels
- Financial education
- Online safety support
Cllr Ryan Hope, Dorset Council’s Cabinet member for Customer, Culture and Community Engagement, said: “I was saddened to learn of the closure of the last bank in Ferndown, but this new presence in the library is a positive step forward. It’s a great example of partnership working and community collaboration, and we welcome Lloyds’ commitment to supporting our residents in an accessible way.”
A Lloyds spokeperson said: “Our Community Banker will be available fortnightly on a Tuesday at Ferndown Library, offering face-to-face support including making payments, account enquiries and help using our app or online banking.
“Customers can also visit the local Post Office on Victoria Road to do everyday banking and pay in cash at PayPoint locations in Ferndown using our app cash deposit feature or a debit card.”
This new initiative ensures continued access to banking services for the Ferndown community, especially for those who may need support with app and online banking or understanding their options.
The banker will next be available on 11 December, then 8 and 22 January, 5 and 19 February, and 5 March.
