Officers are concerned for the welfare of a missing Poole woman and are asking for the public’s help to find her.
Maria Ann Vye, 51, was last seen at 10.30am yesterday, Wednesday 2 September, at her home in the Wimborne Road area.
She drove off in her car, a white Hyundai i10, with the registration HF63AVE. The whereabouts of Maria and her car are unknown at this time.
Maria is described as white, five feet seven inches tall, of big build with dark hair and blonde highlights. She has tattoos of a rabbit on her leg and an ‘M’ on her neck. She was last seen wearing jeans and a white short-sleeved jumper.
Officers have been searching Poole and surrounding areas, assisted by the NPAS helicopter, and are now expanding their search across the county.
Inspector Bob Jacobs, of Dorset Police, said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Maria as it is out of character for her to disappear like this.
“It is possible that she is feeling vulnerable and we want to find her as soon as possible and ensure her safety.
“I urgently want to hear from anyone who may have seen a woman matching her description or her car.
“It is likely that there will be increased police activity, including the police helicopter, in certain areas in the East of the county while we carry out a search for Maria.
“If Maria sees this appeal I would urge her to make contact with Dorset Police immediately to let us know she is safe. Your family is very worried and wants you home.”
Anyone with information about Maria’s whereabouts should call Dorset Police on 101 quoting incident 2:262.
Update: Maria has been found in St Leonards and is being taken care of. 3.9.2015
