Concert to raise funds for cancer charity
Macmillan Caring Locally is to benefit from a concert being staged at the Barrington Theatre, Ferndown on 2 February.
A cast of talented local performers has been brought together to appear in ‘One Night Only’, which has been created by 20-year-old Georgia Scott in honour of her grandfather Reginald Barrett, who died two years ago from lung cancer.
Featuring songs from musicals including Annie, Les Miserables, Wicked and We Will Rock You, this upbeat and feel-good evening will pay tribute to Reg and anyone battling with or caring for someone affected by cancer.
Reg, who lived in West Moors with his wife Joan, was a loving and caring father to daughters Sue and Caroline and his granddaughters Georgia and Laura.
“My grandfather was a huge support to us as we grew up,” said Georgia. “He always made sure he was in the front row for all the shows we performed in. We’re so happy to be able to support Macmillan, the charity that looked after him so well by putting on this performance. Many of the cast have also been touched by someone with cancer, so it’s a cause we can all feel very passionate about.”
The cast have all given their time and services for free, and all proceeds from the performance will go directly to Macmillan Caring Locally.
Tickets priced from £10 are on sale now from the Barrington Theatre ticket office on 01202 894858 or online at www.barringtoncentre.co.uk
