Contender Fest at Parley Lane welcomes fitness fanatics
The event, in conjunction with BH Live Active, which is open to all, runs from 10-12 September near Bournemouth Airport.
Fitness fanatics have a treat in store for them this September.
Contender Fest, which is taking place at Parley Lane near Bournemouth Airport from September 10–12, will enable people to challenge themselves on a custom-built 40-piece obstacle course or try out fitness taster classes from Zumba to Jiu-Jitsu.
Because of the festival’s focus on health and fitness, BH Live Active was approached to form a partnership to benefit both organisations’ customers. BH Live Active operates a number of sport and leisure centres across Bournemouth, Poole and Portsmouth, including Littledown.
Contender Fest organiser, Des Burke said: “This is the perfect partnership. Both of our customers are local people engaged in fitness and sport, but we offer very different services. Contender Fest is about good fun with friends and some healthy competition on an obstacle course at a big event, whereas BH Live Active is all about community fitness and health and wellbeing throughout the year.”
Throughout the weekend fitness festival, BH Live Active will have an exhibition stand where attendees can speak to staff from the gyms, and ask about fitness classes, swimming and all the centres have to offer. They are also sponsoring the festival.
Rob Cunningham, head of leisure at BH Live Active, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Contender Fest to help deliver a great experience for this fresh new fitness festival. It’s encouraging to see something new coming to the area, especially when Contender Fest is getting people active, just like we’re doing at BH Live Active.”
Contender Fest is also using BH Live Tickets as one of its official ticketing agencies.
Competitive events at Contender Fest include the PX2 Team event, where teams of two work together to conquer the course, and the individual event Run 4 Your Life, both offering a £500 cash prize, as well as other competitions.
The festival also includes taster sessions and classes across 12 different fitness and wellbeing disciplines from Yoga and meditation to kickboxing and military-style bootcamp fitness.
Visitors can get kitted out with gym equipment and clothing at fitness-related trade stands, while a host of food traders will be offering up exotic street food, gourmet treats, award-winning local produce, alongside three speciality bars. There will also be a craft village, children’s mini-obstacle course, fairground rides, face painting, entertainers and Wessex vintage Fire trucks – all of it set across a generous festival ground in a picturesque setting in Parley Lane, Hurn, near Bournemouth Airport.
