Christchurch and East Dorset Councils are working with Heritage Lottery Fund to host a free information event for local communities in the area.
The Heritage Lottery funds a wide range of projects from £3000 upwards which actively involve people in heritage. This can include, amongst other things: cultural traditions; histories of people, communities, places or events; languages and dialects; people’s memories and experiences.
HLF is keen to support the development of potential projects in Christchurch, Bournemouth, East Dorset and Poole, especially from groups working with people of all ages and abilities which achieve its outcomes for people, heritage and communities. This event will tell more about HLF’s Sharing Heritage; First World War: then and now; Young Roots and Our Heritage funding programmes and some of the inspiring projects developed and run by community groups using HLF funding.
Angie McTiernan, an HLF Development Officer, will explain the HLF:· definition of heritage, application and assessment process, application dos and don’ts and project outcomes.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions, discuss potential projects and meet other groups. After lunch there will be a limited number of surgeries for groups to discuss their specific heritage project. Anyone interested in attending one of these surgeries will need to book in advance.
The HLF Information Event is scheduled for Thursday 21 January 2016 from 9.30am to 1.30pm (including lunch) at the Bridge House Hotel, Longham, Ferndown BH22 9AN . This is a free event.
