A 90-year-old local woman was pushed over by a robber who made off with her handbag. The victim was walking past San Remo towers in Michelgrove Road, Bournemouth when she was approached from behind and pushed forward to the ground. Her handbag was pulled from her shoulder and a man ran away from the scene. The incident happened at 10am on Monday, 29 December 2014.
The offender was then chased by a member of the public who caught him behind Denewood Hotel on Sea Road. The handbag was recovered, however, the offender made off down Owl Road.
He is described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s and about five feet seven inches tall. He had greasy dark brown hair, which is long on the forehead and brown stained teeth with a couple of them missing. He was wearing a brown waist length Puffa style jacket and dark coloured trousers.
Detective Constable Caroline Craft, of Bournemouth CID, said: “Fortunately, the victim was uninjured and kind members of the public quickly came to her aid.
“I am now able to release an image of the suspect. Unfortunately, the image is not clear enough to show any facial features. But I am hoping it will jog people’s memory and they come forward and contact police with any additional details that may assist my investigation.
“I am appealing for witnesses and anyone with information about the man responsible to come forward and contact Dorset Police.”
