The Friends of Coy Pond in Poole are restoring the South Coast’s longest rockery with the help of donated soil, plants, paint and fertiliser.
The volunteers working on the rockery at Coy Pond are now well on the way to bringing all 550 feet of it back to its former state as restoration works take place with donated soil, plants, paint and fertiliser.
The dedicated group of volunteers, led by Chairman Mike Smith, is working on the project and they hope to complete the mammoth job later this year.
Companies supporting the restoration include Parley-based Eco Sustainable Solutions which donated a tonne of its Super Soil product. Other firms have also chipped in by donating plants, paint and fertiliser.
“The support we’ve received has been fantastic and we can’t thank the likes of Eco Sustainable Solutions enough,” said Mike. “We are working with limited funds so any donations we receive are very gratefully received.
“The rockery had become obscured over the years with bushes and other vegetation but, after our work, it is now returning to its former glory.
“The reaction from local residents has been very positive and we’ve received many nice comments,” he added.
The Friends of Coy Pond was founded in 1998 and works closely with the Borough of Poole on enhancing the area.
Charlotte Haswell, Eco’s Business Account Handler, said: “The volunteers are doing a wonderful job restoring the rockery and we’re delighted to have assisted with such a worthwhile project.”
