The home for cricket in Dorset is encouraging juniors to take up the sport.
Dean Park Juniors runs every Saturday and offers two hours of cricket for young people under 12. Open to boys and girls, every participant will get the chance to bowl, bat and field in a variety of games at Dean Park Cricket Ground, where some of the sport’s greatest names have played. It runs 9am-11am and costs just £5 a session. For parents, the pavilion tearooms are open serving breakfasts and snacks with wonderful views of the ground.
Bournemouth’s first Festival of Cricket is over the May Day bank holiday weekend when as well as four top class matches – including the visit of a full-strength Hampshire side for a T20 clash with Dorset as part of captain Jimmy Adams’ benefit year – there will be loads of fun events for younger cricketers from have-a-go sessions, mini-games and skill-based activities.
