Bournemouth cricket fans have an opportunity to get involved in a major local charity and sporting occasion and see their past icons in action. The Lashings All-Stars, known as the “Harlem Globetrotters of cricket”, are coming to Bournemouth on Friday 16 June 2017.
The event will include some of the greatest names in cricket, such as Tino Best, a highest-scoring number 11 batsman record holder; John Emburey, a former England national cricketer; England fast bowler Devon Malcolm; and legendary cricketer Monty Panesar.
A competitive 20/20 cricket match between Lashings All Stars and an Invitational XI is taking place at Bournemouth Cricket Club in Chapel Gate, Christchurch. The match starts at 4pm, with gates opening at 2pm. Ticket options will be available to single spectators, with under 12s receiving free admission.
Neal Williams, Trust Secretary Macmillan Caring Locally said, “A huge day for fans, this event is an excellent opportunity to meet your favourite cricketing heroes. I would like to invite businesses, local people and sports clubs to get involved and help us to raise vital funds for our local charity.”
Macmillan Caring Locally provides specialist palliative care to patients with advanced or incurable illnesses such as cancer. They are currently running a fundraising appeal, as they seek to raise over £4 million for a new state-of-the-art care unit at Christchurch Hospital.
