With such a huge decision for the country to make on Thursday, 23 June 2016, the EU Referendum campaigns are being stepped up locally.
Some of those in favour of staying in gathered last Friday at the picturesque and iconic Dorset landmark, Gold Hill, Shaftesbury, to show their love for Dorset and to support the Stronger In campaign. They included supporters from across four political parties.
Conservative, Liberal Democrat, Green and Labour supporters were all there. These included Simon Hoare, Conservative MP for North Dorset, Hugo Mieville, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Bob Messer, Labour EU Champion for North Dorset, and Anna Baker, Chair of the North Dorset Green Party and not forgetting a local vicar.
Hugo Mieville states that, “The EU is essential to the continued economic prosperity, international reputation and peaceful future of the whole UK, and therefore of Dorset.”
Simon Hoare argues that “Brexit have not only failed to make their case, but their arguments are unravelling as every day goes by. The issues at stake and the future of the country are so important. We must Remain.”
