Bournemouth-based charity The Crumbs Project has just received a grant of £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to help support their community outreach program.

The Crumbs Project works with vulnerable adults who have a disability, helping them to learn new skills and gain greater personal independence. Crumbs’ trainees are able to gain recognised qualifications in catering, administration and housekeeping, and are then supported by the charity into paid or voluntary work placements.

As part of their vocational training, trainees assist The Crumbs Project in delivering regular community lunches throughout the Bournemouth area. The charity works in partnership with St Marks Church, All Saints, Holy Epiphany and Winton Methodist Church. The grant from The Big Lottery Fund will be used to purchase new equipment and support Crumbs’ outreach program, encouraging vulnerable people within the local community to come together.

A representative from the Big Lottery Fund said, “The Big Lottery Fund distributes over £600m a year to communities across the UK, raised by players of the National Lottery. It’s great to see the funding helping The Crumbs Project, which does great work in the local community whilst improving the lives of vulnerable people.”

Leanne Miller, operations manager at The Crumbs Project is thrilled to have been awarded the funding, “The funding will go a long way in assisting the work we do with trainees and through our outreach program.
