Chairman of East Dorset District Council, Cllr Steven Lugg and his wife, Cllr Cathy Lugg formally opened a Danceathon at the Royal British Legion Ferndown Club.
The weekend event, held on 9-10 October, was in aid of the Poppy Appeal. Local dance teachers led a variety of workshops and helped raise £1,113. RBL Ferndown Club Chairman Gordon Whitehead said, “On behalf of the club and branch committee, I would like to offer sincere thanks to our sponsors Travis Perkins, Lloyds Bank, Morrisons and the Art Trail Centre for their generosity. Our appreciation also goes to the dedicated dance teaches who made the event so much fun. They are Linda Brooks from Yellow Rose Line Dance, Laura Swabe from Fitsteps, Carl Mehrer of Jive Riot, Chloe Miller leading Zumba, and Rachel King from Shake. Finally, a huge round of applause to all from the local community who came along to learn a new dance. It was great to welcome new guests to the club.”
