Deadline extended for Dorset’s climate and ecological emergency strategy
The consultation period for Dorset’s climate and ecological emergency strategy has been extended by 12 weeks.
Following the implementation of the current lockdown restrictions, people have been unable to receive paper versions of the survey or access them online at libraries. As a result, councillors have extended the amount of time people have to complete the questionnaire both on and offline.
The consultation was due to finish mid-December, but will now run until Wednesday 20 January.
Dorset Council’s portfolio holder for Highways, Travel and Environment, Cllr Ray Bryan, said, “We want as many people to respond to our climate and ecological emergency strategy consultation as possible and this means providing ample opportunity for all interested residents to have their say.
“Our original plan was to provide paper copies and online access via our libraries across the county, but the lockdown has prevented this from happening for a few weeks. As a result, it’s only fair and logical that we extend the consultation period accordingly.
“I strongly encourage everyone to head over to our website, have a read of the strategy and complete the survey. Those who need offline copies of the documents can request these by calling 01305 221000 or waiting until their local library reopens once again.”
