Care staff from Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole have been recognised at an awards ceremony after completing a course for the care and support of people with dementia.
The ceremony, which took place at Allendale House in Wimborne, celebrated care staff success in achieving a QCF Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia. The awards were presented by Cllr Malcolm Birr, chairman of East Dorset District Council.
The award winners had completed the qualification organised by Partners in Care using funding from Skills for Care, an organisation that ensures England’s adult social care workforce has the appropriately skilled people in the right places working to deliver high quality social care.
The qualification aims to enhance best practice around the care and support of people with dementia.
Hilary Drake from Carewatch (Wessex) said: “I was very pleased that 22 members of my staff were able to undertake and complete the Level 2 Award in Awareness of Dementia. It has given them further insight into developing the person-centred approach to the care and support not only of individuals with dementia but also their family members.
“We are grateful to Partners in Care for this valuable opportunity to undertake this funded course.”
Partners in Care is a multi-stakeholder partnership working to raise the standard and quality of adult social care across Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole. They offer advice and guidance around workforce planning and development.
